Future Cities v.1

July 2008 / Photography

—
Hong Kong is famous for its amazing skyline, but it is something else to see it in person. Hundreds of enormous tower blocks crowd the steep hillsides, yet the tropical forest all around feels pervasive, with vines growing down exposed walls all around. It feels as if the jungle would be back extraordinarily quickly if the people left.

I created a large-scale piece on this topic. A single photograph of an absolutely enormous tower block was printed on 64 (=8×8) postcards, joined together with short connectors to create a huge image, but one which shook in the breeze.
